Official Statement - Club Transfer (26th September 2022)

"University of London Sailing Club is one of the oldest University Sailing Clubs in the UK, being the third to be established and now holding 75 years of history. In recent times, it has been a struggle to keep the club running with COVID and the dissolution of Student Central, UoL’s Student Union. At many points, the future of the club has been uncertain and we are grateful for all of the sailors who have kept us going through it all.
However, thanks to the work of former and current committees, the future of the club is looking positive. University of London Sailing Club will be ceasing operations and is transferring the club and assets to the Students’ Union UCL, with the club now officially becoming UCL Sailing Club. We are excited to be a part of TeamUCL, and for all the opportunities we can offer to the student community.
UCL Sailing Club will still be open to all students from other member institutions of the University of London, who can join us by becoming associate / visiting members of Students’ Union UCL through their website.
In the near future, we hope that our club will continue to grow so that we can invest more into our racing teams and provide new development opportunities. We would like to thank Welsh Harp Sailing Club, Castaways and Imperial College Sailing Club for all the support they have provided to us. We are excited to continue to work alongside all of you and continue to provide amazing sailing experiences.
We look forward to welcoming all of you back, students and alumni, and are excited for new members to join our teams or come learn to sail.

Castaways Committee said "We are very happy that there continues to be team racing for UoL students despite the recent difficulties from Covid and the dissolution of Student Central. The committee look forward to working with and supporting the new Committees from UCL Sailing and Imperial Sailing Club."
