Matt and Laura win Castaways Cup

Old and new sailors gathered at the Royal Thames Yacht Club for the 71st Castaways Dinner in June 2022, the first such get-together since the covid-19 pandemic.

All looked swish in black tie as wine and conversation flowed. Winners of the Castaways Cup, which took place earlier that day, were announced - the trophy went to Matt Thornton and Laura Bevan, club members 2016-19, who sailed beautifully against strong competition.

Speeches were made by the commodores - Sam Walker for London and Julian Fung for Imperial - and a new Castaways committee was elected.
